Selection Criteria & Process Students interested in the residency are encouraged to take a fourth-year elective; however, this is not mandatory to obtain an interview or to be selected in the program. The elective experience is particularly valuable to those individuals who want to have hands-on experience and direct faculty contact at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center prior to making a final decision for their residency training. The program does accept applications from international medical graduates who have successfully completed one year of training in an accredited program in the United States. Additionally, the individual should have successfully completed USMLE Step One and Step Two. Visas are not sponsored. We do have international medical graduates in the program who are on J-1 Visas with ECFMG. The selection process attempts to identify the most qualified and interested candidates who wish to train in this residency. Program diversity is important and resident involvement in the interview and selection process is a part of this program. Once the applications are reviewed, invitations for interviews are extended. Following the completion of all the interviews, the faculty sit down and propose the ranking order to be submitted to the NRMP. Banner Health is an equal opportunity employer. Specific questions regarding applications may be directed to the residency coordinator, Connie Farrington. How to apply Currently, applications are accepted through ERAS only. ERAS - Electronic Residency Application Service Deadline to apply for 2012 year is Dec. 31, 2011
