Letter from the
Program Director
Training in a Combined Med/Peds Residency program is a challenging process. The curriculum is accelerated, and your success depends largely on a strong sense of commitment and purpose for combined training, and a desire to do it very well. Our program has a unique sense of camaraderie, which extends throughout our faculty and residents. We believe that the four years that you spend in residency training, should not only emphasize your development as a physician with dual training, but should also encourage and enhance your development as a person of integrity and leadership. Our program offers an environment conducive to this philosophy. We attract residents from universities nationwide because our program is highly regarded by those seeking excellent clinical training in Medicine & Pediatrics, in a collegial atmosphere. Without a doubt, the major strength of our program is the quality of our residents. Our graduates are well-respected and in great demand when they complete their training. Those who enter careers as Primary Care Physicians are well trained in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Those who have chosen to pursue subspecialty fellowship training have matched at highly competitive programs. Whatever your goal, our program provides an excellent clinical training experience, a flexible curriculum, and a devoted group of people to foster your success and growth along the way. I encourage you to come visit our program. I think you will discover that training in MedPeds can be a pleasant and educationally rewarding experience. I look forward to hearing from you. Donna L. Holland, MD Program Director, Medicine/Pediatrics Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine The University of Arizona College of Medicine
